A Successful Virtual Presentation – Christian County Genealogical Society

presentation

Yesterday afternoon – Sunday, November 7, 2010 – I was part of a successful virtual presentation for the Christian County Genealogical Society in Taylorsville, IL during their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

I had been invited several months ago by one of their members to give a customized presentation consisting of 21st Century Marketing for Genealogical Societies and Google Docs for Genealogists. We arranged for me to do the presentation virtually with me using my Webex account here in Chicago and the rest of the group seated at their meeting spot.

Thanks go out to Chuck Courtwright of CCGS who took care of all the technical aspects including: arranging for a laptop, projector and screen at the meeting and especially hooking up the speaker phone to the room speakers so the audience could hear me. I was even able to take questions from the audience and provide answers.

If you are interested in having me provide genealogy education programs as part of your society’s meeting, please contact me for more information.

Upcoming Webinar – Google for Genealogists

legacy family tree

I am pleased to announce my partnership with Legacy Family Tree in delivering quality webinars to the genealogy community!

On Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EST (7:00 pm GMT), I will present Google for Genealogists:

Most genealogists are only using 10% or less of the resources behind Google when it comes to genealogy research. Learn from professional genealogist, Thomas MacEntee, about the other 90% and how these Google components can be leveraged for better search results. Google is more than just a search engine – it is a wealth of information much of which goes unnoticed by the average genealogist. Besides search, Google allows you to access maps, books, journals, abstracts, patents and much more. These components may be what is needed to make advances in your genealogy research.

Click here for the current list of free webinars and scroll down to January to sign up for Google for Genealogists.
