Legacy Family Tree Webinars

On the heels of the popular Google for Genealogists webinar that I delivered back on January 5, 2011, once again I am working with Legacy Family Tree Webinars on a new webinar!

Entitled “Backing Up Your Genealogy Data,” here is the description for this 90-minute presentation (complete with 4-page syllabus) to be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011:

Have you ever experienced a data loss when it comes to your genealogy research? Not yet? Well if not, have you prepared for what might happen if your hard drive fails? What if your laptop is lost or stolen? Learn the basics of backing up all your genealogy data including identifying data, common backup methods and how to use free online programs to help you make sure your data will always be available! Participants will learn various methods for backing up their genealogy data including many free online programs such as DropBox, Google Docs, Picasa and more! Join webinar host, Geoff Rasmussen, and Google for Genealogists’ presenter, Thomas MacEntee for this 90-minute session.

FREE Webinar – Social Networking: New Horizons for Genealogists

I am happy to announce that the Southern California Genealogical Society (SCGS) has selected me to deliver their inaugural webinar in their new Jamboree Extension Series! On Satuday, March 5, 2011 at 12pm Central (10am Pacific, 11am Mountain and 1pm Eastern time zones), I will be presenting Social Networking: New Horizons for Genealogists.

As the virtual presentation concept continues to be embraced by the genealogy community, this is the perfect way for you to attend a FREE genealogy education event online and from the comfort of your home.  You don’t need to be a member of SCGS to attend (however only SCGS members will have access to the recorded version of this webinar) and register now since there are only 1,000 “seats” available!

What will you learn in this webinar on social networking? Well, I’ll bring you up-to-date on the latest developments in the social media world of Facebook, Twitter, Genealogywise and more. We’ll also spend quite a bit of time showing how genealogists are using these free resources for queries, lookups and more.

I hope you’ll join me and SCGS on Saturday, March 5th!

Finally, if you can’t attend – don’t worry.  A recording of Building a Research Toolbox will be available on the Legacy Family Tree website until May 6th and you’ll also be able to purchase the recording and the syllabus materials.
